A report stated in a study which is published in “Life Sciences” in May 2005 noted that raspberry ketones may result in weight loss among lab animals. This is because of the ability of ketones to breakdown body fat. Another study in the April 2010 edition of “Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters” recommends raspberry ketones to help with breast cancer. Such findings caused many people to be interested in taking nutritional supplements that have raspberry ketones in them. Don’t forget to talk with your doctor prior to taking of these supplements because dietary aids can cause side effects. Here are some supplements which were found out to include raspberry ketones.
Supplement #1: Coffee
A review contained in the “Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition” in the April 2011 edition said that coffee has negative and positive effects on one’s health. Some of the benefits of coffee may come from its unique aroma. Coffee drinkers are known to have lower cases of diabetes, cancer and neurological disease. However, in a study presented in the “Journal of Food Science” in the June 2008 edition reveals that there are some chemicals involves to this underlying odor. According to the authors, coffee’s aroma has included raspberry ketones. Additional tests are yet to be conducted on the effects of raspberry ketones to the human body.
Supplement #2: Kiwi
Extracts of baby kiwi plant called Actinidia arguta when ingested on lab animals can lower their cholesterol count as stated in a report in the “Archives of Pharmacal Research” in July 2009. Because the supplement has other active ingredients, it is not clear which of them causes its medicinal effects. Raspberry ketones is said to contribute on the effect on body weight. They found out that baby kiwi contains raspberry ketones in an experiment as described in the August 2011 issue of the “Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.”
Supplement #3: Rhubarb
Rheum officinale plant is a rhubarb variety and its extract can have a wide medicinal effects. Rhubarb has been proven as a useful treatment of experimental pancreatitis based on a clinical trial as presented in the January 2011 issue of the “Chinese Journal of Medicinal Materials.” However the underlying mechanism involved in this effect is still unknown. In the “International Journal of Molecular Sciences,” July 2011 issue showed that rhubarb contains 4-(4’-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butane, the chemical formula of raspberry ketones. This shows that rhubarb has also an inflammatory effect because chemicals same as raspberry ketones has can suppress inflammation.
Supplement #4: Yew
Healers of the ancient times have used Yew tree (Taxus baccata) in treating heart problems. Additionally, yew supplements are known to decrease lung inflammation and increase lung capacity based on a report which is published in a report in January 2011 issue of the “Journal of Yung Pharmacists.” Scientists have identified the chemicals that provide health benefits as causes by yew ingestion. In an analysis which was presented in the March 1999 edition of the “Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry” showed that the English yew has raspberry ketones.
